Blog 5: Changes to my study program

Image
Hi again! I'm Ivan and I will talk about my opinion about the study program :) First, I am barely at my third semester of the career, so, I only have that experience to make my opinion. I think that the curriculum of the career is good, because it has a great variety of things, especially the psychological currents, there are universities that specialize in one or two currents, but in the university of Chile we can specialize in whatever we want, even if they tend to one current. About the workload, I think that will be good if they focus a little bit more in optional works, maybe for one student an essay is okay, but for another is hard to express they opinion and would prefer a report, and the same thing to the length and the workload of the class, maybe having tests in different subjects of the class would be more motivating to the students. The thing that I am like a “hater” (not so critical, but it makes me angry) is about the capacitism of the university, because they a...

Blog 6: English Language Challenges

Image
Hi everyone! I'm Ivan, and this is my last post of my blog First of all, I want to thanks all the people who build this classes, from my partners to the teacher, to make this classes comfortable, and help me to express myself more, even if I wasn't able to be in there every time. Starting the classes, I was frightened of not being able to learn or express my English like I wish to, but the bond with my partners helped me to be able to do that (or that's what I feel). Writing these blogs are quite difficult to me also, not because I can't express myself in words but I'm frighten on expressing my thoughts to more people, because i had bad experiences for doing that, despite of that I found a safe space there to finally do it. At the same time, I think my insecurities stop me to talk more often in English, and I need to improve that, luckily I'm surrounded of pretty people who help me to break these boundaries, and be able to talk and go out my comfort zone, throug...

Blog 4: Post-Graduate Studies

Image
Hi! I’m Ivan (again), and today I will talk about the postgraduate studies To start, I’m nineteen years old so, psychology is my first career, and I have not studied something before, but really I’m not sure if I want to study a postgraduate or not, but that doesn’t means that I have never considered it before, in fact, I wanted before entering the university, because I wanted to study Bachelor degree in exact sciences with mention in physics (I know that is a weird name) but it is, practically physics, I wanted to study a PhD in quantum physics because I loved it, and I was like, for three years approximately, thinking that I needed to study a lot of PhD’s in physics, because to do that is like the usual process to do investigation in the physics area. To do investigation, you need to study like 10 years, and you can do it in different universities, so I wanted to study in different countries of Latin America, that because when I went to a university to know about the physics stu...

Blog 3: My dream job

Image
Hi! I’m Ivan and I will talk about my dream job that I’ll like to have in the future. Well, my answer probably will appear that is “sarcastic” or a prank, but is really serious and I will explain why… But the true is, that my dream job is to… not have a job (XD) And that is! But, the explanation isn’t that simple, I do not want a job because I hate the concept of work, it doesn’t mean that I don’t want to do anything in the life, but I don’t want to serve to a production system that requires a lot of time from me and effort in things that I don’t want to do, I don’t think that a living being needs to “pay” his existence, or demonstrate that they deserve it, also I don’t want contracts, enterprises, private organizations or anything. So taking this in consideration, what I want to do like a “job” (or the most similar thing to it) is practice a trade, something that can supply basics necessities for the daily life in the community wherever I’ll live and gain the necessary money to ...

Blog 2: The best concert ever

Image
Hi everyone, in this blog I will talk about the best concert ever that I went to. This concert was in 2015 and was a festival called “Santiago gets louder”, there was a lot of rock/metal bands like “Weichafe”, “Deftones”, “Faith no more” and my favorite band at that moment “System of a down” (and a lot more but so long). For me, it was a really nice experience, because I was a child (13 years I think) and I was like “exploring” the different bands and scenarios, and I knew new bands that I didn’t know like “De la tierra” and “Temple agents”, with the last one, it was a funny moment, because they sang and talk the entire concert in English, and at the final of they concert they said like “wena cabros ”  and it was so astonishing because they were Chilean. The best moment for me was when System of a down starts playing, because they started with a song that starts like singing with the spectators, and not so heavy, and after that starts with heavy metal, and in that mome...

Blog 1: A country that I would like to visit

Image
Hi everyone! I’m Iván González and I will tell you in this blog about a country that I would like to visit :)   Before I start to talk about the specific country, I’ll say that the travel that I would like to do in a future is to know Southeast Asia in general, but almost for random or insignificant reasons (that I will specify later), if I need to choose one country in specific, I’ll choose Thailand. Like I said before, I want to know and go to Southeast Asia, because I like a lot the culture of the place, and in my personal opinion, in the Western countries we see their philosophy in a contemptuous way, like a “spiritual thing” or a “hippie life”, and not like a different perspective to see the life, or a different lifestyle. And I would like to know that in a direct way, mainly the Buddhist philosophy. About Thailand I know no more than the general information, like its capital (Bangkok), the general tourist places like beaches, that there are a lot of temples (li...
